Exciting developments from Mexico’s Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT)! The approval of the Programa Anual de Uso y Aprovechamiento de Bandas de Frecuencias 2024 (PABF) sets the stage for determining the allocation of frequencies and spectrum bands for the upcoming year. Specifically, the telecommunications sector will focus on the 400 and 800 MHz frequencies.
Under the PABF:
- Frequencies between 415-420 MHz and 425-430 MHz, as well as 806-814 MHz and 851-859 MHz for trunked radio service, are included in the public process.
- Bands 824-849 MHz and 869-894 MHz are also earmarked for mobile communication service for social use.
Concession applications for both public and social use will have specific deadlines:
- Public Use: March 11-25, 2024, and September 2-13, 2024
- Social Use: June 3-14, 2024, and October 1-14, 2024
These deadlines align with IFETEL’s annual work calendar, ensuring a streamlined process for all stakeholders involved. Stay tuned for further updates as Mexico continues to advance in telecommunications spectrum allocation.
