A significant update unfolds in India’s telecommunications sector as per the Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules 2017, regarding the testing and certification of telecommunication equipment under Phases III & IV of the MTCTE regime.
Effective immediately, the following amendments are notified:
a. The mandatory certification date for 32 products (ERs) under MTCTE Phases III and IV is extended by three months, from July 1, 2023, to October 1, 2023. Refer to Annexure-I for the list of 32 products.
b. The mandatory certification date for 12 products (ERs) under MTCTE Phases III and IV is extended by six months, from July 1, 2023, to January 1, 2024. View Annexure II for the list of 12 products.
c. The last date for acceptance of test reports issued by labs accredited by International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) signatories from non-border sharing countries is extended by six months for technical parameters only. This extension moves the deadline from June 30, 2023, to December 31, 2023, for the products listed in Annexure III.
While Type Approval, spectrum allocation, and imports remain unaffected, products listed in the annexures must confirm compliance with applicable standards. Stay informed and ensure adherence to these revised certification dates to navigate India’s regulatory landscape effectively
