Embarking on the second round of public consultation, the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago unveils a consultative document on June 15th, 2023. This document, titled “Equipment Standardisation and Certification Framework for the Telecommunications and Broadcasting Sectors,” aims to enhance the efficacy of equipment standardization and certification processes within the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors.

The Framework seeks to modernize existing processes and requirements while fostering vital collaborations with local, regional, and international stakeholders. It outlines the approach and procedures for certifying radiocommunications, telecommunications, broadcasting equipment, and other devices. Additionally, it delineates guidelines, forms, and submission requirements for certification applicants, including manufacturers, representatives, and commercial distributors.

Grounded in standards established or recognized by the Authority, as well as technological advancements and a commitment to promoting local and regional innovation, the Framework prioritizes safe operations across multiple users.

This consultation period invites feedback until July 14th, 2023, empowering stakeholders to contribute to shaping Trinidad and Tobago’s equipment standardization and certification landscape.
