The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand has unveiled technical standards under NBTC TS 1039-2566 for fixed (base unit/access point) and mobile/portable devices operating within the 5.925 – 6.425 GHz frequency range. This includes devices utilizing Wi-Fi 6E technology.

Products must comply with FCC Part 15.407 for electromagnetic compatibility and ensure electrical safety according to standards such as IEC 60950-1, TIS 1561 – 2556, IEC 62368-1, or TIS 62368 Volume 1-2563.

In its announcement, NBTC has also updated criteria for the utilization of licensed radio frequency, designating 5.925 – 6.425 GHz as licensed exempt.

This development allows for the type approval of new devices and introduces a new spectrum allocation for 5.925 – 6.425 GHz, impacting telecom equipment and short-range devices.
