In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Mexico implemented temporary measures allowing customs clearance based solely on formal application forms, as indicated in official publications 414.2020.827 and 414.2020.963. However, as of May 25th, 2023, the authorities have announced the termination of these facilities.
With the normalization of operations by Conformity Assessment Bodies and changing circumstances, importers are advised to resume their certification planning for trade activities. The previously issued official publications are now invalidated.
Importers have a 30-business-day window from the publication date of the official letter, ending on July 6th, 2023, to submit requests for folios to Conformity Assessment Bodies. Import folios registered on the official portal will expire on August 23, 2023.
This development does not affect type approval, spectrum allocations, standards, or product requirements. However, importers intending to receive merchandise in Mexico should adjust their plans accordingly and ensure compliance with NOM certificates as applicable.
