The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of India issued Notification No. 23/2023 on August 3, 2023, amending the import policy for items under HSN 8471. Imports of laptops, tablets, all-in-one personal computers, and ultra small form factor computers and servers now require a valid restricted import license. An exemption is allowed for up to 20 items intended for research, testing, evaluation, repair and re-export, or product development.
Notification No. 26/2023, issued on August 4, 2023, extends the implementation date of Notification No. 23/2023 to November 1, 2023.
