The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has implemented the Communications (Electronic Equipment)(Type Approval) Regulations 2023. In a Public Statement, MACRA highlighted the following new requirements:
- Importers, distributors, and suppliers of electronic equipment must obtain a Dealership Registration Certificate from MACRA to participate in trading electronic equipment.
- Type-approved equipment must clearly display a label indicating compliance with MACRA regulations.
- MACRA will conduct thorough market surveillance on type-approved equipment to ensure continued adherence to regulatory standards.
