The Secretaría de Economía (SE) of Mexico released a Preliminary Draft to amend how SE issues rules and criteria related to foreign trade. The draft proposes reforming Section IX of Rule 2.4.11 (originally published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on May 9, 2022, with subsequent modifications).
The reform would limit exceptions to compliance with NOMs for imports conducted under the simplified courier and parcel procedure:
- Total customs value per calendar month must not exceed $2,500 USD.
- A maximum of 10 imports per month per recipient/consignee is allowed.
If approved, the Preliminary Draft would take effect on January 1, 2025.
