The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) published a news release on December 13, 2023, proposing that all mobile phones and smartphones be compatible with hearing aids. The plan includes requiring wireless handsets to support both acoustic coupling and inductive or Bluetooth coupling with hearing aids. Transition periods proposed are 24 months for manufacturers, 30 months for nationwide service providers, and 42 months for non-nationwide service providers.
