The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India issued a Notification on July 20, 2023, updating the Essential Requirements (ER) for Passive Optical Network (PON) devices under MTCTE for the following parameters:
- Protocol Tests for any PON interface – these parameters are exempted until December 31, 2023.
- Automatic Laser Shut-Down (ALS) or Automatic Power Shut-Down (APSD) – TEC continues to permit self-declaration of conformity by the applicant.
- ECR – applicants may submit test reports/results conducted by the OEM or any NABL-accredited lab, with ECR values as specified in the TEC standard.
