The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) published the following Acts, which will become mandatory in the coming months:

  • Ato No. 17087 – Approving technical requirements for electrical safety in the conformity assessment of telecommunications products, mandatory from December 27, 2023, replacing Ato No. 950 of February 8, 2018, which will be revoked on the same date.
  • Ato No. 7971 – Approving technical requirements to evaluate compliance for IPv6 protocol in telecommunications products, mandatory from January 8, 2024. IPv6 tests will be excluded only for 3GPP item 8.5.4.1, and RFC2460 has been replaced by RFC8200.
  • Ato No. 2436 – Minimum Cybersecurity Requirements for assessing the conformity of CPE (Customer Premises Equipment), effective March 10, 2024. This Act requires additional evaluation of CPE-type equipment through OCD laboratory tests and documentation from suppliers/manufacturers.

Additional details:

  • From March 20, 2024, all CPE equipment must comply with both Ato No. 77 (self-declaration for cybersecurity) and Ato No. 2436 (OCD evaluation with lab tests).
  • Maintenance of CPE products after March 10, 2024, must follow the new regulations.
  • Routers sold at retail and supplied to operators must undergo cybersecurity testing starting March 10, 2024.

Wi-Fi 7 products may be certified using Wi-Fi 6E limits; however, the 802.11be/Wi-Fi 7 nomenclature cannot appear on certificates until the IEEE releases the standard.
