The Telecommunications Regulation Commission (TRC) of Jordan opened a public consultation on November 22, 2023, on draft instructions for the type approval of telecommunications devices. Proposed updates include:
- Certificate validity reduced from 3 years to 1 year.
- Renewal submissions allowed 3 months before expiration, with no extra documents required unless the device changes.
- Lead time increased from 10 to 20 business days.
- Device classification into: Wired Communication Devices, Radio Devices (Low Power, High Power), Terminal Equipment, and Infra Devices.
- Updates to document submission and labeling requirements.
- Exemptions from approval for devices such as printers/copiers/monitors without high-power radio, IR-based remote controls, non-radio electronic parts, Bluetooth-only SRDs, satellite TV receivers, laptops/desktops, and wireless mice/keyboards.
- Family approval not allowed except for color/packaging differences or with TRC validation.
