The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) in Hong Kong announced on August 2, 2024, that it has authorized Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Limited to discontinue 2G service plans starting November 8, 2024. HKT will join two other providers that have already ended 2G services in Hong Kong. Users of 2G services are advised to upgrade to newer generation devices.
