The Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFETEL) of Mexico approved modifications to the Homologation Guidelines and the Use of the IFT Seal on October 2, 2024.

Key points:

  • The modified Guidelines for the Use of the IFT Seal will be effective July 1, 2025.
  • The vector file of the IFT Seal referenced in the 5th Guideline will be available via IFETEL’s electronic window starting October 3, 2024 for users with valid access. Once the Guidelines are effective, the file can be obtained according to the final paragraph of the 5th Guideline.

Agreement on Product Labeling:

  • IFETEL also published an Agreement modifying the Guidelines for the approval of telecommunications and broadcasting devices on October 2, 2024.
  • Each approved product must have a physical or electronic marking/labeling, which can be printed, digitized, or permanently affixed.
  • Label data must be engraved, stamped, or printed permanently on a metal, plastic, or other material plate/label affixed to the product or packaging.
  • Electronic labels are permitted on products with integrated screens that clearly display the label; in such cases, a permanently affixed label is optional.

This Agreement is effective immediately from October 2, 2024.
