The FCC has updated the Covered List to add certain foreign-made Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, along with their critical components on a going-forward basis. According to an FCC fact sheet, these foreign UAS are considered potential national security risks. As a result, newly listed devices are prohibited from receiving FCC authorization and may not be imported for use or sale in the United States. This update does not affect existing UAS models that were previously authorized by the FCC, which may continue to be sold, imported, and used.
