The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of India has published the Use of Low Power and Very Low Power Wireless Access System, including Radio Local Area Network in Lower 6 GHz Band (Exemption from Licensing Requirement) Rules, 2026. Issued on January 20, 2026, the rules apply to the 5925–6425 MHz frequency band and are now in effect. Under the framework, Low Power Indoor (LPI) devices are permitted a maximum EIRP of 1 W, while Very Low Power (VLP) outdoor devices are limited to a maximum EIRP of 25 mW.
