The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has published the Technical Specification for Cellular Mobile Terminal (IMDA TS CMT Issue 1 Rev 4) on March 6, 2026. The updates require mobile handsets to have 2G disabled by default starting December 31, 2026, and to support emergency cell broadcast from April 1, 2026, with devices reaching end of life prior to these dates excluded from the requirements.
