On May 16th, 2023, Argentina’s Minister of Economy, along with the President of ENACOM (National Communications Agency), unveiled the complete authorization of the 6 GHz band spectrum, spanning from 5925 to 7125 MHz, for unrestricted usage without licensing.

This strategic move by Argentinean authorities aims to foster the knowledge economy, support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and bolster digital industries reliant on robust Wi-Fi infrastructure to propel current and future technological advancements. These include augmented reality, gaming, the metaverse, and the Internet of Things (IoT), while complementing ongoing 5G developments.

In the wake of this announcement, close attention will be paid to potential modifications in national standards or the prospective development of new standards to facilitate testing and certification procedures aligned with ENACOM homologation protocols.
