Australia ACMA Opens Public Consultations on Maritime Instruments and Frequency Band Plans

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has launched the following public consultations:

• Changes to frequency band plans – With the Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence 2015 set to sunset on October 1, 2025, ACMA proposes remaking this class license, updating the Radiocommunications Frequency Band Plan 2022 for:
  
  • Mobile-Satellite Service in the 1980–2010 MHz and 2170–2200 MHz bands
    
  • Television Outside Broadcasting in the 2010–2110 MHz and 2200–2300 MHz bands
    Comments are open until June 20, 2025.
    
• Sunsetting, remaking, and revoking maritime instruments – ACMA proposes:
  
  • Sunsetting The Radiocommunications Licence Conditions (Major Coast Receive) Determination 2015 and The Radiocommunications – Maritime Omnibus Variation 2019 (No.1)
  • Remaking The Radiocommunications Licence Conditions (Maritime Coast Licence) Determination 2015 and The Radiocommunications (Maritime Ship Station – 27 MHz and VHF) Class Licence 2015
