In a significant development, ANATEL unveiled Act 17087 on December 19th, 2022, marking a pivotal shift in safety regulations for telecommunications products. This transformative act effectively supersedes Act 950, implemented on February 8th, 2018, and updates the technical requirements for ensuring electrical safety during compliance evaluations.

The latest testing standards introduced under this act include:

– Anatel Resolution No 715, dated October 23rd, 2019, outlining the Regulation for Conformity Assessment and Homologation of Telecommunications Products.

– ABNT NBR IEC 61032 (2007) focusing on the protection of individuals and equipment via enclosures, featuring test gauges for verification.

– ABNT NBR IEC 61672-1 (2021) addressing electroacoustics, specifically sound level meters, and their specifications.

– ITU-T Rec.K21 (2019) concerning the resistibility of telecommunication equipment in customer premises to overvoltages and overcurrents.

– ITU-T Rec. P.360 (2006) emphasizing the efficiency of devices preventing excessive acoustic pressure from telephone receivers and assessing daily noise exposure.

– Law No 11.337, enacted on July 26, 2006, and its subsequent amendments mandating grounding systems and compatible electrical installations for buildings, alongside the requirement for a protective ground conductor in specified electrical appliances.

– ABNT NBR 5410 (2004) focusing on low voltage electrical installations.

– IEC 61140 (2016) addressing protection against electric shock, covering common aspects for installation and equipment.

Act 17087 is set to take effect on December 19th, 2023, precisely one year after its publication.
