Argentina’s Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM) has unveiled Resolution 2097/2023 on December 5, 2023, heralding a new era for telecommunications in the country. This groundbreaking resolution now permits the approval of 5G NR devices in Argentina, marked by the incorporation of Technical Standard ENACOM-Q2-61.03 V23.1.
Key amendments introduced in this standard include:
- Approval of 5G NR devices on the n78 band (3300-3700 MHz).
- Addition of Chapter V dedicated to 5G NR within the local technical standard.
- Acceptance of foreign test reports (such as FCC, RED, and ANATEL) for devices manufactured outside Argentina, provided they meet the technical parameters outlined in the local standard ENACOM-Q2-61.03 V23.1. Meanwhile, devices manufactured domestically may undergo approval via a Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
- Transitional period allowing new applications with foreign test reports to adhere to both the previous standard, V17.1, and the updated version, V23.1, until March 6, 2024, after which only V23.1 will be considered.
This pivotal decision not only facilitates the integration of cutting-edge technology but also streamlines regulatory processes, ensuring Argentina remains at the forefront of telecommunications innovation.
