The India Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) released TEC 93009:2024, The Procedure for Mandatory Testing & Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE), Version 3.0, in April 2024. Updates in this version include:
- Validity of a Regular MTCTE Certificate extended from 5 to 10 years.
- Revisions to MTCTE labeling requirements.
- Certification fees exempted for government institutes; test report evaluation fees removed.
- Updated definitions for Family and Associated Models for Optical Fibre Cable.
- Updates to the SCS Scheme for uploading test reports.
- Acceptance of valid BIS certificates or BIS-recognized lab test reports for safety requirements.
- Acceptance of Source Approval Certificate (SAC) under MTCTE.
- Clarifications on End of Life/End of Sale for whole unit warranty replacement products.
- Test reports from CAB designated for Generic Requirements (GR)/Interface Requirements (IR) for ER parameters will be accepted.
- Removal of NABL mandate for witness testing by RTEC.
