In April 2023, the Communications and Media Commission (CMC) of Iraq implemented a new type approval regulation. Key highlights of this regulation include:
1. Introduction of a “family certificate” for models sharing identical technical specifications but differing in model names.
2. Granting of type approval certificates for all wireless or wired telecommunications equipment, subject to specified device types and conditions outlined in the regulation.
3. CMC retains the authority to request sample devices.
4. High-powered devices may require licensing under the regulation.
