The Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télécommunications (ANRT) of Morocco published Decision 16-24 on January 20, 2025, introducing updates to the type approval process for radioelectric devices. Key points include:
- ANRT may request two samples for testing after technical documentation review and may retain the samples after testing.
- Lead time has been set at 15 business days.
- Updated labeling requirements apply to devices with type approval certificates and import permits. ANRT will release an official label template clarifying required colors. Labels must be affixed to the device, outer packaging, documentation, or via e-labels if the device is too small.
- Any approved equipment with transmission power above 20 mW, used within 20 cm of the user, must clearly display Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) information as a main technical characteristic. This must appear on the device, packaging, documentation, or e-label, as well as in marketing materials, advertisements, and online sales.
- Devices subject to this requirement include (non-exhaustively): mobile phones, smartphones, tablets with SIM/eSIM and/or Wi-Fi, smartwatches with SIM/eSIM, cellular routers and modems, walkie-talkies, laptops with SIM/eSIM and/or Wi-Fi, and DECT/cordless phones.
The SAR requirement will take effect on May 1, 2025.
