The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) approved a mandatory standard for button cell and coin batteries on September 11, 2023. The voluntary ANSI/UL 4200A-2023 Standard for Safety for Products Incorporating Button Batteries or Coin Cell Batteries was adopted as the mandatory consumer product safety regulation for these items.
