The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced on October 19, 2023, that the 6 GHz frequency band is now available for very low power (VLP) devices. The new rules permit VLP devices to operate across 850 MHz in the U-NII-5 and U-NII-7 portions of the 6 GHz band and allow unlicensed 6 GHz devices to function indoors or outdoors at lower power levels without requiring a frequency coordination system.
