The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA published a Proposed Rule on February 26, 2024, titled “Unlicensed Use of the 6 GHz Band; and Expanding Flexible Use in Mid-Band Spectrum Between 3.7 and 24 GHz.” The FCC is seeking comments on allowing higher-powered Very Low Power (VLP) devices in areas with low potential for harmful interference, as well as on VLP device limits and requirements in the U-NII-6 (6.425–6.525 GHz) and U-NII-8 (6.875–7.125 GHz) frequency bands.
